Avalanche control work closes TransCanada Highway near Revelstoke

UPDATE – The highway west of Revelstoke to Craigellachie has been reopened in both directions.

REVELSTOKE – The TransCanada Highway is expected to reopen late Wednesday morning between Craigellachie and Revelstoke.

It was shut down for avalanche control work. The estimated time of opening is 11:00 a.m. for westbound traffic and 11:30 a.m. for the eastbound lanes.

However, the highway 30 kilometres east of Revelstoke to the west boundary of Glacier National Park will remain closed until at least 2:00 p.m. Wednesday for avalanche control measures.
