Good Samaritan turns in large amount of lost cash

LETHBRIDGE – If you found a large sum of money would you return it? For one Lethbridge man, the answer is yes.

Last month, he was walking his dogs in an empty field along the east end of Grand River Boulevard when he came across a “significant amount” of cash.

While some may have considered pocketing the money, this Good Samaritan took it to the police station and turned it over to officers.

The funds haven’t been claimed but before anyone can pick it up they will have to pass a test to prove they are the rightful owner.

Officers say in order to return the money they need to know the exact amount and how it was packaged. They’ll also look for other evidence, such as a bank statement or withdrawal slip.
