Corporal David Robert William Braun

Hometown Raymore, Saskatchewan and member of the 2nd Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, based in Shilo, Manitoba.

David Robert William Braun was born on August 3rd, 1979 in Raymore, where he as raised. He graduated from Raymore School and worked at Westland Rec-Creation in Watson, Sask. His was known to gives speeches at school when home on leave. He was very passionate about his job and managed to hold the attention of a roomful of children.

He realized his dream of joining the armed forces in February of 2002.

Cpl. David Braun died on August 22th, 2006 at 27-years-old. He was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kandahar City. His re-supply convoy was rammed by a vehicle loaded with explosives. A resulting fire destroyed two convoy vehicles. Three others were wounded in the attack.

His mother, Patricia Elaine Braun has been named the National Silver (Memorial) Cross mother of 2011.

He is survived by his mother Patricia, his sister Daina, and brothers Micheal and Chris.

He was laid to rest in the Raymore Cemetery. More than 6-hundred people gathered at the local school on Aug 31st, 2006 for his funeral service.
