Greyhound bus crashes near Jasper

EDMONTON – Greyhound Canada says 21 people suffered mostly minor injuries after one of its buses drove off of a highway on the outskirts of Jasper.

It happened shortly before 6 a.m. Monday, when the bus ended up in the ditch at the intersection of Highway 16 and the east end of Connaught Drive, which is the main road through the mountain resort community.

The RCMP says the bus, which had 36 people aboard, was en route from Prince George, B.C. to Edmonton.

The injured included the bus driver and 20 passengers. Several were taken to hospital in Jasper, while those who were not hurt waited at the Jasper Fire Hall for a transfer.

It’s not yet known why the bus went off the road.
