NDP veterans go down to defeat in Saskatoon

Several NDP veterans have gone down in defeat as the Saskatchewan Party made in-roads in Saskatoon. 

Long time MLA Judy Junor lost her Saskatoon Eastview seat to the Sask Party’s Corey Tocher. Junor had held the seat since a 1998 by-election and had served in cabinet and was most recently the NDP critic for health.

Former Justice Minister Frank Quennell was defeated in Saskatoon Meewasin by the Sask Party’s Roger Parent. Quennell was first elected in 2003 and won a close race over Parent in 2007. 

In Saskatoon Fairview, Andy Iwanchuk was defeated by Jennifer Campeau of the Sask Party. Iwanchuk won the seat in a 2003 by-election and was most recently the NDP labour critic. 

There was some good news for the NDP. 

David Forbes was re-elected in Saskatoon Centre and Danielle Chartier won her seat in Saskatoon Riversdale. Meanwhile, Cathy Sproule won the Saskatoon Nutana seat that was held by long-time NDP MLA Pat Atkinson and Cam Broten was returned as MLA in Saskatoon Massey Place.
