One man has been taken to hospital after a fire at an Abbotsford homeless camp.
It broke out just before 2 a.m. on Gladys Avenue. A tent was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived, but the fire was quickly brought under control.

There’s no word yet on the cause, but crews say they found a lot of propane bottles and barbecues at the camp. An investigation is underway.
“With lower temperatures that we have, and some winds, everybody that’s homeless right now is trying to keep warm,” said Asst. Fire Chief Craig Bird. “So they’re using external sources of heat, so yes, it’s a very dangerous situation right now.”
