New Year’s Eve planning in full swing in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG — It’s not too late to make New Year’s Eve plans in Winnipeg.

The biggest New Year’s Eve celebration is at the Forks. The family-friendly event starts at 4 p.m. with horse-drawn wagon rides. There will also be live entertainment, crafts for the kids and skating. Fireworks start at 8 p.m.

Tickets are still available to Hollywood Glam at the RBC Convention Centre. The evening features a five-course dinner, dancing and entertainment by the Ron Paley 21 piece band. Tickets start at $50 and can be bought by emailing newyearseve@wcc.mb.ca or calling 204-957-4545.

Casinos of Winnipeg also has events planned. Club Regent has a free concert with the Big City All Star Band. It starts at 7 p.m. with rush seating. McPhillips Street Station features a country music-themed party starting at 9 p.m.

Macdonald Youth Services will benefit from a New Year’s Eve gala at the Radisson Hotel in Downtown Winnipeg. It features dinner, a live auction and three separate party rooms. Tickets start at $50 and can be bought by clicking this link.

If you want to ring in 2015 laughing, Rumor’s Comedy Club is hosting Andrew Norelli. Tickets for the 10 p.m. show are sold out; however, there is still room at the 6 p.m. show. They sell for $12 and can be purchased at this link.

If you are planning to order takeout, it is best to do that as soon as possible. Restaurants say New Year’s Eve is traditionally one of the busiest nights of the year.

Pizza Hotline said its customers have already placed orders for Dec. 31 to ensure the food is ready at a certain time. It expects to be delivering pizzas until 4 a.m.
