Strathcona County police conclude death a homicide

EDMONTON – Strathcona County RCMP have confirmed a suspicious death of a man earlier this week was a homicide.

Emergency crews were called around 12:30 a.m. to the area of Baseline Road and Sherwood Park Freeway near 34 Street. They arrived to find a Jeep on fire which was quickly extinguished.

A second person was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Police say both individuals were occupants of the Jeep.

An autopsy was conducted on the homicide victim, but the cause of his death has not been released.

Officers are asking the public’s help in identifying or reporting any activity in the area of 34th Street between 92nd Avenue and 84th Avenue between 11 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call Strathcona County RCMP at (780) 467-7741.
