It could be the next generation of leaders in Manitoba’s government.
Youth Parliament of Manitoba is taking over the Legislature building over the next few days.
Students from across the province sit in mock debates and meet other likeminded individuals who are interested in the Canadian democratic parliamentary process.

“One of the best things you can have in a democracy is a critical and engaged population,” said Brent Hardy, one of the organizers and long time participator. “Stuff like that starts young.”
On Saturday almost one hundred students from across the province gathered as they debated four pieces of legislation all written by participants.
“This has really given me the perspective of how a bill is made,” said Abigail Pudwill who is taking part for the first time. “It shows us how everything in our government works.”
The passionate youth will spend the next five days debating at the Legislature. The mock parliament in Manitoba is the oldest of its kind in Canada.
