EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers’ American Hockey League affiliate is moving out of Oklahoma City at the end of the current season.

The Oilers are ending their affiliation with Prodigal Sports, who has operated the Oklahoma City Barons.

The Oilers say the decision to end the affiliation was a mutual one between the organization and Prodigal, after negotiations to extend an agreement were unsuccessful.

“The decision to move on from Oklahoma City, although not easy, will open new opportunities for the Oilers organization and our AHL business,” says Oilers Entertainment Group President & COO Patrick LaForge.

Edmonton’s AHL team has been in Oklahoma City since the 2010-11 season.

The Barons have been successful during their time in OKC, winning the West Division in 2012 and currently sitting atop the West Division.
