Senior killed in three-vehicle collision near Tofield

EDMONTON – An elderly man from the central Alberta hamlet of Round Hill was killed in a three-vehicle collision around 9 a.m. Tuesday. Tofield RCMP said a pickup truck driving west on Highway 14 was hit by a trailer being hauled by an eastbound service truck, before colliding with an oncoming semi.

The 70-year-old man in the pickup died on scene. His name is being withheld at the request of family, until all loved-ones are notified.

A section of Highway 14 was closed Tuesday morning and afternoon while collision analysts investigated the scene. Tofield RCMP responded to the crash, along with Tofield Fire and Rescue, Collision Analyst, Carillion Highways crew and Beaver County Victim Services.

The crash remains under investigation. Round Hill is about 25 kilometres northeast of Camrose.
