Watch above: Canadian National Railway cleans up after train derailment near 11 Street in Saskatoon. No injuries have been reported at this time.
SASKATOON – Traffic was congested in Saskatoon Saturday morning around the same time a train derailment was being cleaned up. Canadian National (CN) Railway police are currently investigating a train derailment near Saskatoon’s Montgomery Place neighbourhood.
At about 1 a.m., five grain cars went off the tracks on a private rail line near the 11th Street bypass. CN says no one was injured in the derailment. It is unknown how long it will take to clean up the area.

Southbound traffic was also held up at the Circle Drive and 11th Street intersection for about an hour-and-a-half this morning while Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway crossing gates were down.
CP confirmed the holdup was due to an error in the rail line’s circuitry and not the derailment. However, local drivers were not too happy about the wait.
“I don’t know why we’re stopped or why it’s continuing – there’s no train,” said one frustrated motorist.
In a statement, CP says it regrets any inconvenience the malfunction caused drivers. The company is reminding people to call the number located on metal boxes at crossings if gates are activated and no train is present.
