WATCH: ‘Tis the season of peace and goodwill, and some really terrible fashion choices. Someone decided that Friday should be National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Mike Le Couteur gets into the spirit.
TORONTO – “National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day is a day of lighthearted fun and a day to be yourself and not that buttoned-up corporate version of yourself you have grown to despise.”
So says the official website for National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, celebrated Dec. 12 in the U.S. And although there’s no Canadian equivalent, those of us north of the border have also embraced the tacky fashion during the holiday season.
The market for ugly Christmas sweaters has grown so much that several stores even exist solely for the purpose of selling the garish garb.
