Edmonton police block off area near headquarters due to possible suspicious package

UPDATE: As of 6:17 p.m., police said that the area of 96 Street and 103A Avenue is clear. “The report of a suspicious package was unfounded and the area is safe. The front doors of Edmonton Police Headquarters, front parking lot, and service road between Police Headquarters and the Brownlee Building will re-open shortly.”

EDMONTON — Edmonton police say they are responding to a report of a suspicious package in the area of 96 Street and 103A Avenue.

As a precaution, they have shut down the front doors of their police headquarters, front parking lot, as well as the service road that leads to the Brownlee Building.

Global News has a crew at the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
