LOS ANGELES — Canada’s Tatiana Maslany was nominated Wednesday for a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for her work on the Toronto-shot Orphan Black.
The Regina native is up against Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Claire Danes (Homeland), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).
Billy Bob Thornton is nominated for playing Lorne Malvo on the made-in-Alberta first season of Fargo.
In the movie categories, the dark show-business comedy Birdman topped the nominations with four, including best ensemble cast.
Star Michael Keaton was recognized for his work, as well as supporting co-stars Emma Stone and Edward Norton.
Following with three nominations each were the coming-of-age tale and critics award favorite Boyhood, the Alan Turing biopic The Imitation Game, and the Stephen Hawking story The Theory of Everything.
All were recognized for their ensemble casts and individual performances. Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke earned nods for Boyhood; Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything; and Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley for The Imitation Game.
Foxcatcher received two nominations for actors Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo.
The Montreal-shot movie X-Men: Days of Future Past earned a nomination in the Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble category.
