PHOTOS: Port Alberni flooding closing roads, winds causing power outages

VANCOUVER – A level one Emergency Operations Centre has been activated in Port Alberni due to extreme weather in the area.

The Alberni-Clayquot Regional District says BC Hydro and fire crews are dealing with multiple downed power lines and outages in the area.

The Tseshaht First Nations is evacuating homes along the Somass River as the waterways are still rising.

One house has been flooded in the Ferguson Road and Hector Road area after the river bank breached. Highway 4 has seen temporary closures due to flooding and traffic is being re-routed through McCoy Lake Road. Lower Hector Road is also closed.
