Oilers’ Taylor Hall apologizes after Twitter account hacked

EDMONTON – Edmonton Oilers centre Taylor Hall apologized to fans Wednesday after someone hacked into his Twitter account and posted an offensive message.

“I would never say something like that. Always grateful for Oiler fans,” Hall said on Twitter.

The offensive tweet – since deleted from Hall’s account but widely retweeted – said “f*** the oilers I’m going to the flames #oilersfansaretheworst #f***mysh***yfans.”

The 19-year-old first overall pick in the 2010 NHL draft is one of a handful of Oilers who post regularly on Twitter. He has almost 85,000 followers.

Before Tuesday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks he tweeted “didn’t have a very big pregame meal today so i’m hungry for pucks tonight!”

Hall scored the game-winning goal in the Oilers 3-2 victory and added an assist on Jordan Eberle’s first of the season.

In the past Hall has tweeted on a wide range of subjects, including his lack of fashion sense and difficulty passing the exam for his boat operator’s licence.
