UPDATE: Police release sketch of suspect involved in sexual assaulted at Mill Lake Park

Abbotsford Police are looking for a male suspect following a sexual assault of woman walking through Mill Lake Park last week.

On Nov. 20, a 42-year-old Abbotsford woman went for a walk at 10:30 p.m. and while she travelled southbound along Bourquin Crescent West towards the bus loop, she noticed a man walking behind her. Eventually she allowed the man to pass her and he went into the boardwalk area of Mill Lake. As the woman was passing another entrance to the boardwalk, the male suspect jumped out and grabbed her from behind, pulling her into the park.

The pair struggled and the victim was grabbed, groped and struck by the male suspect before she was able to push off the attacker. The man did not follow her.

According to police, the suspect is described as a Caucasian or South Asian male, 30 to 40 years old, 5’9″ tall and was wearing dark track pants, white running shoes and a dark hoodie with a circular design on the front. The man’s face had stubble on it and appeared to have short dark hair under his hoodie.

The APD is investigating the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact the department or call Crime Stoppers.

In response to this recent incident, APD will be increasing patrols in and around the park are encouraging people to walk in pairs and be aware of your surroundings.
