SASKATOON – It’s a beautiful sight to behold and a longstanding Christmas tradition in Saskatoon. The annual Festival of Trees officially opened Sunday, drawing hundreds of people of all ages to the Western Development Museum.

This year’s theme is ‘A Fairytale Christmas,’ where kids have the opportunity to take a photo with their favourite characters from the film Frozen.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus stopped by to ask children what they want for Christmas. Santa says it may be the best event organizers have done to date.

“They’ve gone to so much work – 300 volunteers, they all come out and they put out their absolute best. And it’s tough to ask a favourite! It’s tough! So I’m just going to say they all look fantastic … and the gingerbread houses … wow,” said a man bearing resemblance to Ol’ Saint Nick.

The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Nov. 29.
