MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact will have a familiar face between the pipes for their inaugural season in Major League Soccer.
The Impact announced Friday the signing of goalkeeper Evan Bush, the team’s defensive player of the year and the North American Soccer League Golden Glove award winner.
“I’m very excited and proud to get back in Montreal,” Bush said in a statement. “I’m pleased to be a part of the plans as the club moves to Major League Soccer.

“I am ready to take on the next challenge.”
The American goalkeeper becomes the third player to sign with the Impact for its inaugural season in MLS. He is the second, after defender Hassoun Camara, signed from the team that completed its final NASL season this year.
On Oct. 3 the Impact made Colombian defender Nelson Rivas its first MLS signing.
“Evan has shown in 2011 that he can be a top goalkeeper,” said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch. “With his performances during the last season he has earned the right to join the Impact for its move to MLS. I am looking forward to challenging him at the next level.”
The 25-year-old finished the season with a league-leading 0.76 goals-against average. He allowed only 14 goals in 19 games. Bush ended the season with a career-best nine shutouts, including seven in his last 10 games.
The native of Concord Township, Ohio previously played for Crystal Palace Baltimore, the Cleveland City Stars and in the Chicago Fire organization.
