Vancouver Police are issuing a warning after several potentially lethal drugs were stolen from an eastside pharmacy on Wednesday.

Police say that just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, two men entered the Chemist Pharmacy on Fraser Street near East 57th Avenue, and made off with liquid metadol, metadol tablets and fentanyl patches.

Inappropriate use of methadone such as Metadol can lead to serious health risks and potentially fatal overdoses if not administered correctly.

Fentanyl is 100 times more potent than morphine, and is blamed for the death of several people in Vancouver over the past couple years.

There were 31 overdoses due to fentanyl at Insite over the last Thanksgiving long weekend. A woman in her 20s also died at a nearby hostel due to a suspected fentanyl overdose.
