Our 100th Episode

When the first episode of Focus Saskatchewan aired three seasons ago, I was at home watching it like you. Later on that season, I remember rushing home Saturday evening to catch the sit-down year-end interview with the Premier. Every time I saw the promo with Tom Vernon, I thought about how much I would love to host a show like that.

Tom definitely set the pace (and the bar) for the show. When I took over last September, Focus Saskatchewan had visited 40 communities (we’re now over 50), conducted hundreds of interviews and produced 106 stories and one full documentary. They also received one national award and one honourable mention. There is no other show in this market producing the wide-ranging, in-depth quality current affairs and long features that we do on Focus Saskatchewan.

It is a pleasure to work on this show, alongside photographer/editor Derek Putz (who, by the way, has worked on every single episode since the beginning) every week. This week, in particular, it has been fun to review all of our favourite Focus moments so far. However, while Derek is currently cutting together the show, I am working on story ideas for our next 100 episodes (okay, I’m not that far ahead yet).

We are excited every week to show you the stories that impact our lives as Saskatchewanians – we hope you make it a habit to set your PVR’s to watch!

Thanks for watching the first 100! See you this weekend!
