NEAR FALKLAND–It’s always frightening when a school bus is involved in an accident and that was the case late Monday afternoon in the rural North Okanagan.
According to police, the school bus with 14 teenagers on board was rear ended as it was letting students off east of Falkland on Shaw Rd.
When police arrived all but two of the students were off the bus, most had already been collected by their parents.

A white, Dodge Ram panel van that crashed into the back of the bus was in the ditch.
The driver of the van, a Falkland man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A student on the bus was also taken to hospital, with minor injuries as it appears she had been standing at the moment of impact.
The crash happened just as the bus began moving forward after dropping off a student.
RCMP say the bus was probably travelling at about 15 km/hr.
The slow speed is likely the reason more people weren’t injured.
Damage to the bus was minimal but the van sustained heavy front end damage.
RCMP continue to investigate.
