Fire caused by unattended cooking destroys Saskatoon garage

SASKATOON – Damage has been pegged at $75,000 after a garage fire in the River Heights neighbourhood Sunday evening.

Saskatoon firefighters were called out to 237 Albany Crescent just before 6 p.m.

Crews arrived to find the detached garage fully engulfed and the fire spreading to the house.

Firefighters started an offensive attack, initially concentrating on stopping the blaze from spreading to a neighbouring home and putting out the fire in the attic.

The fire was brought under control in 16 minutes.

The garage was destroyed. An outside set of stairs, landing, siding, eaves, rafter and roof were damaged.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was due to unattended cooking in the garage.
