MONTREAL — Nikolas Stefanatos has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Thursday morning.
He now faces up to 14 years in jail for attacking his then-girlfriend, Tanya St-Arnaud, with corrosive acid.

In court on Thursday, Stefanatos apologized to St-Arnaud, saying he would like to hold her in his arms.
St-Arnauld was doused with drain cleaner in August 2012 on the steps of her apartment building following an argument with Stefanatos.
She suffered serious burns to her head, arms and upper body, and was put in a medically-induced coma.

She has since undergone several painful skin grafts and medical procedures.
St-Arnauld addressed court on Thursday, saying that she would remember her injuries rest of her life.
The date for Stefanatos’ sentencing has been set for December 3, 2014.
