The Occupy
Wall Street protests have inspired their first app. A developer has built an application for phones using Google’s
Android operating system, that will send out a message alerting loved ones –
and lawyers – that the user is being arrested.

The “I’m Getting Arrested”
app will, at the press of a button,
send out a message to phone numbers chosen by the user – allowing them to
contact anyone from whom they want to seek
help.

According to
the description on the Android Market website, the developer was inspired to
create the app after witnessing an arrest at the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City.

Though the
app is intended to contact people when the user
is being arrested, one reviewer of the app said that  it “is great for
getting info out to groups” and consequently could be used to send quick messages
to a mass amount of protestors – alerting them to details or plans.
