LAC DU BONNET, Man. – A man is dead after he swerved to miss a skunk, lost control of his sport utility vehicle and rolled on a road in eastern Manitoba. 

RCMP say the 59-year-old Winnipegman died at the scene when the accident happened Sunday night on Provincial Road 313 a few kilometres east of Lac du Bonnet.

The victim’s wife was taken to hospital in Pinawa, Man., but has since been released. 

The man’s name has not been released. 

Police say both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
