REGINA – An accident on the Sakimay First Nation over the weekend claimed the life of an elderly woman.

RCMP were called to the reserve Saturday evening and found an older model GMC Jimmy on its roof in the ditch.

Early investigation by police revealed that the Jimmy was travelling east and entered the ditch and rolled.

The 65-year-old female driver from Regina had to be removed from the SUV using the Jaws of Life, and was brought to the Wolseley hospital with undetermined injuries.

The 75-year-old female passenger, also from Regina, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
