One person has died after two vehicles collided four kilometres west of Olds on Monday.
Olds RCMP said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 27 and Range Road 22.
It involved a mini-van and a commercial truck.
RCMP said the initial investigation shows the mini-van was travelling eastbound when it lost control.
The van went towards the south ditch, corrected back onto the highway and slid into the westbound lane where it was struck on the passenger side by the oncoming truck.
Olds RCMP, fire department and EMS responded to the crash.
The driver of the mini-van was a woman in her early 40s from Sundre.
EMS said she was in critical condition when crews arrived Monday morning.
STARS was put on standby, but stood down when the woman was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the truck had minor injuries.
Traffic was diverted around the scene for approximately three hours on Monday.
RCMP said road conditions were typical of a recent snow fall, being partly covered with snow and ice.
Alcohol and speed are not considered to be factors in the crash.
RCMP said no charges are anticipated.
