The Institute chose Inglewood based on ‘planning excellence’. In a media release it said while Calgary is an ever-expanding city, Inglewood has retained a ‘sense of living in a village’ even though it’s situated on the outskirts of downtown.
The Institute gave kudos to Inglewood’s plentiful supply of affordable housing, a variety of transportation options and a community spirit which was evident after the big flood in June of last year, when ‘volunteerism in the neighbourhood was astounding’.
It was also impressed by the district’s 200 shops, cafes, restaurants and live music venues .
