TORONTO – A woman was killed Thursday afternoon after a car collided with a street post, knocking it down across a Scarborough intersection.
The woman was also struck as the van went up onto the curb, hitting the Gilder Drive street sign.
The incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Midland Avenue and Gilder Drive, just north of Eglinton Avenue.
Police and paramedics are on scene but the woman has not yet been transported to hospital.
Traffic in the area could be slow for several hours as police investigate and crews work to replace the street sign.
