SASKATOON – Firefighters responded to a general fire alarm at around the time classes were set to end at a Saskatoon high school.
Members of the Saskatoon Fire Department arrived to find approximately 1,450 students had evacuated Walter Murray Collegiate Tuesday afternoon.

Battalion Chief David Nahachewsky says a student’s locker that was full of clothing was burning.
A caretaker extinguished the flames and firefighters worked to clear the smoke from the building using fans.
The fire department verified the fire did not extend beyond the locker.
No injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation and damage estimated at $2,000.
