WINNIPEG – Brian Bowman will officially be sworn in as mayor of Winnipeg at city hall on Tuesday evening.

The 15 people who make up city council – seven of them newcomers – will be sworn in at the same ceremony.

Bowman will also announce which councillors will be members of Executive Policy Committee, the mayor’s inner circle.
Bowman was the surprise winner of the Oct. 22 election.

Longtime NDP politician Judy Wasylycia-Leis held a strong lead in polls from the beginning of the campaign until an October Global News/680 CJOB poll showed the two in a statistical tie.
On election day, Bowman won handily, taking 47.5 per cent of the vote to Wasylycia-Leis’ 24.9 per cent.
