“I saw my dog’s organs, my mother had to hold them to keep them inside or they would have fallen out,” says Laurel Owen, Yuri’s owner.

Even though the pit bull had a muzzle on, it managed to bite through the material, causing it to fall off.

Owen and the owner began beating on the pit bull once it started attacking, but were not able to stop it.

Animal Control is now holding the pit bull, waiting to determine its fate.

The pit bull was reportedly trained for dog fighting in Whitehorse.

No one at the home of the pit bull was available to comment to Global News Monday.
