The news comes on the same day that New Brunswick confirmed its first case of the virus.
A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Wellness said it is not aware of any other potential cases of EV-D68.
One man in B.C. died after contracting the disease. It is the only death so far reported in connection to the virus.
Dr. Frank Atherton, the province’s deputy medical officer of health, said parents shouldn’t panic.
He recommends keeping up precautions to keep viruses from spreading, such as frequent handwashing, sneezing and coughing into your arm and staying home when sick.
