WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are looking to add a spark to their lineup for their must-win game against the B.C. Lions Saturday.
Newcomer Justin Wilson will make his CFL debut this week starting at receiver for the injured Nick Moore.
“Justin Wilson has been here for 3.5 weeks,” said Blue Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea. “He’s picked up the playbook. He shows a different type of burst. Once again I’m just looking to change things up, do things a little differently.”
Wilson joined the team’s practice roster on Sept. 30. After a five-year college career with the Delaware State Hornets, the 24-year-old went undrafted in the NFL. Wilson signed with the Green Bay Packers in August 2013 but was released just a few weeks later.
“Doesn’t say Aaron Kelly is not a good receiver,” said O’Shea. “There were points in the year he was the go-to guy and scored touchdowns for us. He’s held on to the ball well. Just looking to change things up and try and get a different feel in the lineup.”
Defensive back Demond Washington has also been ruled out for this week’s game.
A loss to the Lions on Saturday would officially end the Bombers’ playoff chances.
