VANCOUVER – A former Vancouver Airport (YVR) security screener is expected to be sentenced today after pleading guilty to theft charges.
Yuriy Ruvinskiy, who is in his 30s, entered a guilty plea to eight counts of theft under $5,000 in a Richmond court on Aug. 12.
The charges were laid following an investigation by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority and RCMP and refer to 26 separate incidents, which took place over a seven-day period from February to March 2014.
Personal effects were stolen from travellers as they passed through security.
His sentencing hearing is expected to begin at 1:30 p.m.
