Affordable housing for seniors in Air Ronge, Sask.

Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan announced funding for a local housing initiative for seniors in Air Ronge, Saskatchewan.

The federal and provincial governments are contributing equally to this overall investment of 132-million dollars under the amended Canada-Saskatchewan Affordable Housing Program Agreement.

Funding in the amount of 1.7-million dollars has been made available for the initiative through Canada’s Economic Action Plan, which stimulates the economy and creates jobs during the global recession.

“We are committed to making communities stronger through projects like this one. These investments help create new jobs and stimulate the local economy, while providing more access to safe, affordable homes for Canadian seniors,” said Member of Parliament for Desnethé, Rob Clarke.

When completed, the project will include 12 two-bedroom units, a sitting room, kitchen and laundry.

Air Ronge is approximately 380 km north of Saskatoon.
