Students at Fleetwood Park Secondary School in Surrey were told their school was on lockdown Wednesday afternoon, and they could not leave the building due to a police situation.

The school was reportedly put on a ‘code red’ status, which was then downgraded to a ‘code yellow’ as the situation progressed.

Surrey RCMP say they were called to the building at about 12:30 p.m. after a potential threat was made against the school. When police arrived they found a 19-year-old man in a nearby park and he has now been taken into custody.

The school is returning to normal operations and the investigation continues.
