SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. – An estimated 1,000 chickens perished in a barn fire at the Swift Current Hutterite Colony on Tuesday.
RCMP and firefighters were notified of the blaze around 9 p.m.

The local fire department worked with members of the colony to stop the flames from spreading further.
Mounties say the building burnt rapidly and was completely destroyed. A damage estimate of the building is unknown at this time.
No injuries were reported.
The fire is not considered suspicious but the exact cause is unknown.
