SASKATOON – Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 will go down in history as the hottest Oct. 20 Saskatoon has ever seen in recorded history.
The city saw a high of 23.8 C, breaking the previous record from 1974 of 22.2 C.
Normally Saskatoon sees daytime highs of 9.0 C in mid-October.
The record breaking heat was felt province-wide with over 30 high temperature records shattered.
The historic heat spanned the entirety of central and southern parts of Saskatchewan with all major cities making their way into the history books.

In some cases, records from 76 years ago were shattered. This included Regina and Scott, Sask.
Over 30 records were also broken in Alberta.
The warmth was brought on thanks to the placement of a jetstream, which has moved further north, allowing the province to tap into the heat that’s usually kept much further south.
The ridge of high pressure that brought in the heat centred over Alberta and Saskatchewan on Monday will shift to be over Saskatchewan and Manitoba on Tuesday.
This could bring with it the potential to continue the historic heat.
Daytime highs will drop back to the teens across Saskatchewan later this week before approaching seasonal temperatures into next week.
