Many people dream of doing it, but acting is one of the toughest industries to break into. That, however, has never stopped Lethbridge native Chad Rook. Southern Alberta born and raised, Rook has worked tirelessly to chase his dream. After years of work, he’s now a regular face on your television.
But it didn’t come easy. Rook came from humble beginnings at Picture Butte high school, where he dedicated himself to drama and high school plays. But now, after many years, he can definitively say:
“I’m an official full time actor now, finally.”

A year after high school, Rook left his friends, family, and Southern Alberta behind, moving to Vancouver to pursue his dream. A dream that, at times, seemed impossible.
“When I first started there was about two years in there where I booked nothing, literally nothing, I’m not kidding. it was just constant rejection, constant no you’re not going to make it. you’re not good for the role.”
Rook worked tirelessly, bouncing between nine to five jobs as a grocery bagger, a landscaper and a trade broker. Once the day job was finished, Rook pursued his acting at night, taking classes and working on independent films.
Eventually, perseverance and talent won out. Rook secured key roles in several television series and movies. Now, in his biggest role yet as the main villain in the new TV series ‘The Flash’, Rook has finally arrived, even if it still seems a bit surreal.
“Even a year ago, before the Flash, I was the one going to comic conventions getting autographs.”
Now, he’s the one on the other side of the table.
