Plummeting gas prices in Metro Vancouver a relief to drivers

WATCH: After a summer of pain at the pumps, drivers are starting to see gas prices ease and it could be a big boost for the economy. Catherine Urquhart reports.

Low gas prices in Metro Vancouver could be here for some time to come.

“Once those oil prices start to fall, you’ve got groups like OPEC who are desperate for revenue, so they start pushing even more product,” says business analyst Michael Campbell.

“The demand is weakening, and the supply is huge.”

According to vancouvergasprices.com, which tracks prices across Metro Vancouver, there are plenty of stations with regular gas under $1.25 per litre, mostly in Langley and Abbotsford.

Prices in America are also at their lowest in over four years, having dropped around 40 cents a gallon since July.
