Worker seriously hurt in bank robbery

Winnipeg police remain on the scene of a violent bank robbery that left a man seriously injured.

It happened at the CIBC at 3408 Roblin Boulevard Thursday at about 5 PM. Police say a lone male suspect armed with bear spray entered the bank, went straight to the teller area and demanded cash. He began spraying the pepper spray in the air.

At some point a fight began between the suspect and a 54 year old man who was working in the bank as a sub-contractor, installing flooring. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to unstable condition. The suspect escaped before police arrived.

Police say the robber is a Caucasian male, 5’7″ to 6’ tall, with a medium build.
