A spokeswoman for the company says it’s not clear what triggered the outages.

Sarah Levy says it’s also not known when they will be fixed.

The City of Saint John, N.B., issued a statement saying Bell Aliant was experiencing network congestion due to damage to a fibre optic line in northern New Brunswick.

It said land line and cellphone services are affected and some Rogers  customers may experience a busy signal when making calls.
