WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg car owner was stunned to find all four wheels missing from his car Tuesday morning.
To make matters worse, he says the missing rims are rare and very expensive.
Josiah Polkowski says he’s not even sure how the thieves managed to remove the low-profile wheels from his 1991 Nissan Skyline parked behind his Morley Avenue home.
“Well first of all it’s (parked) on gravel so I don’t know how they got the jacks in there, probably put a board underneath; the car is low so they would have had to have a fairly low profile jack; I have no idea how they got the lugs off unless they have that particular key maybe they purchased it somewhere,” he told Global News Tuesday.
Polkowski says the wheels are Nismo Lmgt1’s, high performance wheels that cost almost $3000 a set and aren’t commonly seen on the streets of Winnipeg. He believes his set may be the only one in the city. The rims had Toyo Proxy R1R tires on them.
He’s hoping someone will spot them for sale and let police know.
