TORONTO — Morrissey has revealed he is being treated for cancer.

The 55-year-old former Smiths singer told Spanish newspaper El Mundo he is currently feeling good despite the diagnosis.

“If I die, then I die,” he said. “And if I don’t, then I don’t.”

Morrissey did not specify what type of cancer he has but indicated doctors have “scraped cancerous tissues four times already.”

The singer cancelled his U.S. tour this summer due to a respiratory infection.

“I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but that’s what illness can do,” he said. “I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.”

Morrissey, currently on tour of Europe, has refused to perform in Canada in protest over the annual east coast seal hunt.
