SASKATOON – A tweet from the union representing locked out Saskatoon Transit workers says the two sides have agreed to a meeting.

According to Amalgamated Transit Union Local 615 (ATU 615), the union and the city will meet Wednesday morning.

ATU 615 has said they will not make any statement until after the meeting.

It’s not known if this will mark a resumption in contract talks since the two sides last met on Sept. 19, one day before the city locked out approximately 330 operators, mechanics and support staff.

At issue in the dispute that has left thousands of transit users looking for alternative transportation is the pension plan and wages.

The city changed the bylaw after a special council meeting to address what they said was a $6.7 million deficit, something ATU 615 disputes.

ATU 615 is looking for a 22.25 per cent wage increase over five years while the city is offering 10 per cent over four years.
