Find out which story Global Montreal’s viewers had the most to say about this week on Your Say:

We covered stories about provincial budget cuts, Luka Magnotta and construction out on the West Island, but the story that garnered the most attention was one about a young figure skater.

Our social media sites lit up over a report done by Global’s Anne Leclair on Tuesday about a 12-year-old figure skater who was allegedly kicked out of an elite skating program for telling her coach she was being bullied.

“I feel really like upset because I thought I could go somewhere in skating,” said Hayleigh Abbott.

“I pretty much didn’t think I would stop because someone was bullying me.”

Global News got a lot of reaction on Facebook, Twitter and the Global Montreal website after we aired the story.

Almost 10,000 people checked it out on Facebook alone, and it was shared almost 3,000 times from our website.

The story even sparked some debate among our Global viewers.

Hailie Masters wrote – “That’s horrible, I would be furious if she were my daughter. The 15-year-old had no right, and to use his anger management as an excuse is so dumb. If he has that, then he should go get help. Don’t punish a girl for speaking up.”

Diedre Gordon-Foster said – “All I have to say is that there’s three sides to every story. His, hers and the truth. (Speaking as someone who knows the story/issue).”

Lisa Gagnon commented – “Someone with anger management issues should have been told to leave the ice and not be allowed back until he learned how to be a civil to other skaters. I believe the wrong person was punished.”

Catharine Riddell wrote – “I feel her pain. It happened to my daughter at our club but the bullying came from the President of the club as well as coaches and skaters. Hope Skate Canada does something. They did nothing for us…very sad.”

Everyone is always welcome to chime in on this or any other story we cover at Global News.
