Walking for HIV/AIDS in downtown Montreal

MONTREAL – Around 4,000 people gathered in downtown Montreal Saturday for Foundation Farha‘s 22nd annual Ça Marche walkathon to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The seven kilometre walk started at 10:30 a.m. at Parc Émilie-Gamelin.

“HIV is still affecting people,” said Yvan Fortin, who attended the march.

“It’s not so easy to live with HIV. So we need to say to people, ‘this is still there and we have to accept people with HIV.'”

The foundation is collecting donations online in the hopes of raising $250 000 by December 1, 2014.

All funds will go to support HIV/AIDS organizations in Quebec.
